EWS TESTED. The EWS is strict—break certain parts and you DNF. The rule's meant to encourage sensible management of equipment, but it's also tipped the balance in favor of toughness and reliability. Enter the Reserve 30. Its 30mm internal width supports a 2.3-2.5" tire, and the thick rim beads stand up to the abuse of tough, rocky, steep tracks ridden at elite speed. While DH rims see greater single impacts, nothing beats the full weekend of regular abuse that an EWS race dishes out, to say nothing of the infamous 'Anti-Grip' and the rocks buried within the moondust in the Andes of Chile.
Gravity and trail shredders ask a lot from their wheels. For those who like to mix it up on rough, technical terrain, here is the perfect wheel choice. The Deemax Elite features cutting-edge design to help you push new limits and get the most out of your bike. The 30mm wide rims are built specifically for large tires: 2.25" up to 3.0". The rims are engineered with just enough vertical compliance to absorb some of the impacts that could damage a tire. Our innovative ISM 4D rim technology removes excess material, which makes the rims as light as possible without sacrificing strength. They are built up with 28 steel, double-butted spokes front and rear and come with tubeless tape that makes it easy to experience all the benefits of UST tubeless: better traction, a smoother ride quality, and a reduced risk of flats. From aggressive trail riding days to enduro races and laps in the bike park, experience a wheel that's made for the way you ride. Improved tire performance - 30mm wide rims support large tires: from 2.25 up to 3.0". - UST for optimal tubeless function - Vertically compliant to absorb some of the impacts that could damage a tire Have better control on technical trails - ISM 4D rim for the perfect balance of stiffness and compliance, weight, and strength - Optimized spoke material and lacing provide a supple yet responsive and predictable ride. Surly Rim Strips have one job and they do it well. They cover the cutouts in your rim and — if you're running a tube — they protect it from spoke heads and other sharp matter (okay, so maybe they have TWO jobs but they do them both really well.) Rim strips are crucial and should be used with all Surly rims. Ours come in an array of colors so you can really "express yourself." Surly Rim strips are available in two different materials: PVC and Nylon. PVC is great if you plan on only running tubes. However, if there's any part of you that wants to try this tubeless thing you've been hearing about, Nylon strips are just the ticket. They're thinner and offer minimal stretch so they stay put and lay nicely inside the rim to provide a secure seal. Plus, they're lighter which we all know means you'll go faster… maybe.
