Details

Classic European style meets modern functionality in Breezer's Uptown 8. This light, nimble aluminum bike provides an upright riding posture and swept-back handlebars, keeping every ride casual and fun. The 8-speed internally geared Shimano drivetrain makes easy work of the climbs, linear-pull brakes keep you firmly in control, and 26-inch wheels accelerate quickly, while offering confident stability. The front dynamo hub powers the included front and rear lights as you ride so you never need to worry about replacing batteries or forgetting your lights. Plus, the standlight feature keeps the lights on when you're stopped at traffic signals. For urban utility, the Uptown comes with full fenders and chainguard to keep everything clean, a handy rack and a lock for added security so that you’re ready to ride this beauty everywhere, year round, in any weather.

Internal hub gearing is a gearing system built into the rear wheel hub. It allows you to shift at any time, even when not pedaling, like at a stop sign. Because the majority of parts are housed within the hub, the gearing mechanism is protected from weather and grime, and therefore requires almost no maintenance. Plus, with less external parts than a derailleur system, you’ll get consistently smooth, reliable shifts.

    Comments:

Very much in the Dutch/British model, this bike works great for me in this area. I've had mine for almost four years, riding 3 miles to work each way sometimes or taking day trips in the area. With some panniers, it's been great for light shopping and commuting. It's geared to be able to go up hills pretty well, but it isn't set up to go real fast. That's fine by me.

      Comments:

The ride is super plush. Picks up speed fast. The 8th gear feels like a 24 speed bike on the final gear. Feels like an 18 MPH ride without breaking a sweat. Lights come on automatically and stay on while coming to a stop. This bike is perfect.
